Dear friends, I have a question for you.
We all know that we need certain temperatures to cook meat in our weber Q electric grill, for example 110° for Low&Slow cooking, 170°-180° for certain indirect cooking recipe such as chicken wings, etc. etc.
We all also know that at level 1 without food the temperature is between 100° and 125°, and so on.
Now, my question is this: I noticed that my weber Q1400 without food, empty inside, actually reports these temperatures with little differences, but when I put the food inside my barbecue, temperatures decrease a lot: level 1 is no more 100°-125° but is instead between 90° and 106°, level 5 (the one I use for chicken wings) is not between 150° and 180° but decreases between 130° and 150°. The more food I put inside, the more temperatures decrease.
Is this true for you?
Now, I don't know how to behave with this thing. Example: Pulled Pork needs to be cooked at 110°, and you all told me I need to stay at level 1 in my thermostat. That's true, level 1 is at 110° without the food inside, but when I put the Pig Neck inside the grill, at level 1 my temperatures with the food inside were between 90° and 106°, and I raised temperatures at level 2, and they were between 105° and 125°.
Did I make some mistakes?
I must consider temperatures without food and cook the food at the right level (low&slow 110° level 1 even if with the food my barbecue's temperature is not enough, and so on), or I must consider the temperatures with the food inside and regulate my weberQ to the temperatures I truly need?
